Your experts for lmicro laser cutting

Precise cuts, complex structures, and intricate shapes in metallic foils with a thickness of 0.01–0.05 mm are made possible by the use of an ultrashort pulse laser (UKP)

When processing with ultrashort pulse lasers, the extremely short pulse duration ensures such a high energy density that the material vaporizes (sublimates) locally. The adjacent areas are hardly affected thermally. Since this does not result in melting, surfaces of particularly high quality can be produced. For this reason, USPL laser processing is also referred to as “cold ablation.”

Technical understanding of your project:  To manufacture your workpiece in the best possible way, we first record all technical requirements and try to understand the intended use precisely. This enables us not only to manufacture with precision, but also to provide you with specific advice and, if necessary, make suggestions for optimization.

Precise CAD-Data:  Your drawing or sketch is converted into CAD format by experienced colleagues. We manufacture optimized to the tolerance center.

Optimized cutting parameters: Minimal edge roughness is achieved through a combination of precise focusing, optimal cutting parameters, and dynamic beam shaping, based on many years of in-depth practical experience.

High-quality optics and machine precision: Our high-quality laser cutters with precise control of optics and cutting parameters contribute significantly to edge quality.

Material and thickness adjustment: The right choice of materials and the use of thinner materials, combined with optimally adjusted parameters, result in lower roughness.

Micro lasercutting with ultrashort pulse technology enables extremely precise and burr-free cuts—even with extremely thin metal foils with thicknesses of only 10–50 µm. This results in components of the highest quality with minimal material loss, which generally do not require any post-processing.

Excellent repeatability: Using CNC control and automation, modern laser cutting systems cut each part with extremely high precision and repeat accuracy. Computer-aided control ensures that even in large series, each workpiece is virtually identical.

High economic efficiency: Laser cutting is fast, enables short setup times, and allows tool-free switching between different designs. This saves time and money, especially with changing or small batch sizes.

Minimal post-processing: The high cutting quality and clean edges reduce stress on the material and significantly reduce rework effort and costs.

Due to the minimal heat input, the material remains free of deformation and microcracks during the cutting process. Even very complex structures can be manufactured precisely and without damage.

Ultra-short pulse laser

An ultrashort pulse laser (USP laser) is a special laser source that generates extremely short light pulses in the picosecond range (10⁻¹² seconds). These short pulses enable very high peak power and intensity. This energy density does not melt the material, but causes it to vaporize (sublimate) locally. The adjacent areas are hardly affected thermally. Since no melting occurs, surfaces of particularly high quality can be produced. For this reason, USL laser processing is also referred to as “cold ablation”.

Our production

Our manufacturing conditions – precision and perfection

  • Climate-controlled production environment: Consistent temperatures ensure maximum precision and process reliability.

  • Versatile cutting areas: By expanding the cutting areas to 600 x 2000 mm and 1000 x 1000 mm, we can implement even more of your ideas. We specialize in material thicknesses from 10 µm to 3.0 mm.

  • In-house designed production machines: Our production machines were designed in-house to enhance the capabilities of conventional standard machines. When combined with proven laser technology from renowned manufacturers such as Trumpf and Alphalaser, we achieve powerful systems with unique production capabilities.

  • Versatile machines: 20 production machines enable both optimal production variants for each project and a wide range of services (laser cutting, laser welding, laser engraving, but also micro-bending and small-scale machining processes such as turning, milling, or countersinking).

  • In-house design and data preparation: Project-oriented and personal support from in-house experts.

  • Extensive material warehouse: Fast response times and high flexibility thanks to on-site warehousing and short links to renowned suppliers.

  • Redundant manufacturing systems: Consistent and timely delivery capacity through the use of multiple machines operating simultaneously.

With state-of-the-art technology and strict quality standards, we create solutions that meet the highest requirements—both now and in the future.

Materials

  • Metals and metal alloys
Whether aluminum, copper, or precision alloys, the process is suitable for a wide variety of metals. Even demanding materials such as titanium can be processed without burrs or cracks.
  • Stainless steels
Ideal for manufacturing components that require corrosion resistance and strength. The clean cut edges meet high standards, for example in medical technology and electronics.
  • Plastics
Even technically demanding or temperature-sensitive plastics can be machined precisely without deformation. This results in complex, dimensionally accurate components for numerous industrial applications.
  • Special materials: glass, ceramic, diamond, sapphire
The system can be used to cut extremely hard or brittle materials such as glass, ceramics, sapphires, and diamonds without contact, gently and precisely. This opens up innovative possibilities for high technology, optics, and medicine.

When processing extremely thin metal foils with thicknesses of 0.010–0.020 mm, we recommend using a specially adapted fixture, which we can manufacture for you in-house if required.

Let's get your project started!

The fastest way to reach our order colleagues is by email at mail@laserjob.de or by calling us directly during our business hours.

This enables us to process your request efficiently and promptly. Find your personal contact here.

When it comes to material processing, it is almost impossible to give general delivery time estimates. Requirements and projects vary too greatly. Please contact us directly to discuss how quickly we can deliver to you.

  • We manufacture for you from a quantity of 1 – from prototypes and individual items to series production.

  • For maximum flexibility, we deliver your products reliably and independently of the batch size.

Please note: when you provide the material, we always require additional material. This allows us to set the optimal cutting parameters.

Using UKP technology, we cut metallic foils primarily in the range of 0.01–0.05 mm.

We also process many non-metals, such as ceramics, glass, sapphire, and plastic. Our experts will be happy to check whether your desired material is suitable. Contact us—we will find the right solution for your requirements.

Compliance with tolerances is always checked during production for each cut batch. If you require measurement reports for your documentation or have any special requirements or requests, please contact us.

We support a wide range of file formats:

DXF, DWG, IGES/step, and all common 2D and 3D formats can be processed directly.

Image files such as JPEG and TIFF, as well as Photoshop documents, can also be implemented. We can even create exact cutting commands for our lasers from your drawings, whether they are precise designs or spontaneous hand sketches.

Standard tolerances in the field of laser cutting are specified and manufactured in compliance with ISO 2768f. Even smaller tolerances are always determined by the material, material thickness, and contour.

These tolerances can be warranted based on experience:

  • ±5 µm up to 50 µm material thickness
  • ±10 µm up to 100 µm material thickness
  • ±20 µm up to 600 µm material thickness
  • ±50 µm up to >600 µm material thickness

with a positioning accuracy of ±10 µm.

Additionally, we offer the option to measure the cut parts and document them in an initial sample test report, a CoC certificate, or a test report.

On request, we can also comply with smaller tolerances. Please contact us for more information.
